I figured now would be as good of a time as any to get the ball rolling on this side by side of a 2012 vs 2013 Founder Devil Dancer Triple IPA taste test.  In case you do not know but Founder releases Devil Dancer every June/July…I being the beer nerd that I am, did also know this…when I bought several bottles of it from a bottle shop in Wilkes Barre PA for 7.99/ bottle….in February!!!   Yeah, after I got in my car and started thinking about it, I was instantly kicking myself for buying a 8 month old Triple IPA (lesson learned).  But, in my momentary lapse of reason (screw you Roger Waters), it did make for another fine taste test.

Here were my personal thoughts about each beer:

2013 Founder Devil Dancer Triple IPA (bottled 5/30/13)

Appearance: Amber/Mild Golden Straw Hue, Passes Some Light, Off White Head Ring, Some Lacing
Smell: Sweet Bready Malts, Piney
Taste: Piney, Mildly Floral, Bready Malts, Mildly Boozy
Mouthfeel: Average Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Semi Drying, Somewhat Sticky

Overall Score: 3.6 /5

2012 Founders Devil Dancer Triple IPA (bottled 6/1/12)

Appearance: Amber/Mild Golden Straw Hue, Passes Some Light, Off White Head Ring, Mild Lacing
Smell: Sweet Bready Malts, Mild Oranges
Taste: Sweet Bready Malts, Raisins, Mild Boozy
Mouthfeel: Average Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Sticky

Overall Score: 3.5 /5

The difference between the two were the obvious hop difference but also a much sweeter malt profile and stickness to the 2012 version compared to the 2013.  Either way…kind of a boozy/hoppy mess and really not worth the 8 dollars per bottle price.
