So we are at it again…the Buffalo Beer Advocates have ponied up and joined Round 3 of the Gang Bang BIF. We are following the same format like the last round where we had a Packing Party then the actual Gang Bang Party from the boxes we received. This time, for our packing party, our team leader decided to change things up a bit. Tom has been pushing for an Infected Beer tasting for a while now, so we as a group decided to give it a try. For those of you that do not know what an Infected Beer, its considered any beer that has been tainted from an unintentional yeast strain or some sort of bacteria that the brewer did not want in the beer. An example of an Infected Beer, which seems to be the typical infected beer, is an Imperial Stout that instead of tasting like chocolate, coffee, heavy dark malts…instead tastes like a hockey bag or a funky piece of cheese. The yeast will drastically alter the beer into something that is usually disgusting and borderline undrinkable.

While we were going to try to stick with Infected Beers only, it would have been impossible to drink that many shitty beers…so we mixed in a few good beers into the rotation too.

  • Red Brick Brewing Smoked Vanilla Gorilla

Now in case you were wondering (if anyone even cares), the whole point of this tasting was to gather up all the beers and swag that we were sending off for the Beer It Forward.  The team that we were sending our beers to was Team NJ.  It just happened that the shipping address for their captain was just outside of Philly…but I happened to be only two hours away from where I was staying for work that upcoming week, so I drove the boxes down to the shear surprise of their team captain, Brady.  He was very surprised and thankful and was even kind enough to crack open a few bottles with me.  Several days later, we received four boxes from Team Milwaukee, so looking forward to the tasting when we get to open the boxes.
